Music: Bring Me The Horizon 'amo' Review

"Cause some kid on the 'gram said he used to be a fan, but this shit ain't heavy metal."

- heavy metal (feat. Rahzel), BMTH

Bring Me The Horizon have released their new album 'amo'. The album follows their 2015 album 'That's the Spirit' with a few singles released in between. One look at the band's Instagram and it's clear to see that some fan's aren't happy with the new style in Bring Me The Horizon's music. The album is more pop and electronic than the associated sound with BMTH. The track list goes as followed:

  1. i apologise if you feel something

  2. MANTRA

  3. nihilist blues (feat. Grimes)

  4. in the dark

  5. wonderful life (feat. Dani Filth)

  6. ouch

  7. medacine

  8. sugar honey ice & tea

  9. why you gotta kick me when i'm down?

  10. fresh bruises

  11. mother tongue

  12. heavy metal (feat Rahzel)

  13. i don't know what to say

This is not a death-core album, but it's still a banger. BMTH have had musical accomplishments over the years and the fact that they can make a banger album while changing their style really shows their talent as a band.

The Good

There hasn't been a new album from BMTH since 2015. Contrary to 'That's the Spirit' 'amo' has a much different sound. The only song on the album that can be compared to the previous album is MANTRA and even still it's just a style similarity.

The Bad

With the style change, the heaviest songs on the album aren't anywhere near old BMTH. While I can appreciate the new sound and like the direction that the band is going, I miss the screams. Along with a lack of screams, a lot of tracks aren't overpowering with vocals. The album is more memorable for sound rather than lead singer 'Oliver Sykes' vocals.

Top Tracks

  1. why you gotta kick me when i'm down
