University of Illinois vs Columbia College; University of California, Irvine vs University of Maryland
Day 3 continues of the 2018 League of Legends College Championships. The top four teams face off against each other continuing the bracket format. Games are now a best of five format, changed from the original best of three. The following teams were eliminated during day two:
Seed 7 – University of Ottawa (Eliminated by Seed 2 – University of California, Irvine)
Seed 4 – University of Western Ontario (Eliminated by Seed 6 – University of Maryland)
Game 1
Game one began at 3:00 pm EST. This pitched eighth seed University of Illinois against the fifth seed Columbia College. University of Illinois were trying to continue their miracle run as they continued into the semifinals, but were finally taken down by Columbia College. Columbia College would take down the University of Illinois in three straight games continuing their trend of sweeping the competition. After the game Columbia College’s bot-laner Evan “EvanRL” Lawson had this to say:
“Since last year when we got 3rd / 4th I wanted to win this whole thing right and this obviously the step we had to take and I’m so excited to be playing in the finals. This is my third year in collegiate and I’m hoping this is the one.”

Game 2
The second game pitched second seed University of California, Irvine against sixth seed University of Maryland. After yesterdays interview with Yang, University of Maryland was just as surprised to be in this position as fans were. University of California, Irvine would put up two strong games and even forced the rare surrender vote out of University of Maryland in game 2 of the set. After what was looking to be a three-win sweep, University of Maryland battled back to take game three. This wasn’t enough as University of California, Irvine would take game four and play Columbia College in the finals. After the game University of California, Irvine jungler Jung “Youngbin” Young-bin had this to say:
“It definitely feels good to be back. I wish I was playing a.d. carry, [bot-lane] but I’m playing jungle, but still playing on the stage is a really cool experience. I really miss this adrenaline pumping into me. I missed it.”
